So I started supplementing my P90X with some running. Starting off with the Couch to 5k workout, which begins very gentle. Even then, it was hard.
Today is the first day of week 6! As I think you all know by now, I am motivated by the scale. I weighed at the office this morning and am down 10.2 lb. I’ve completed week five of Couch to 10K and added some biking into my routine. My family and I all got new bikes yesterday and so Jonathan (my 13 yo) and I hit the W&OD and went 7 miles… I leave for Chicago June 30th… my sights are on this!
Today I weighed in at home and was pleasantly surprised, however, at the end of the day, did not eat well (stress (4 kids) got the best of me). So to counter my negative thoughts, I decided to measure myself and was pleased with results. The following are my inches lost:
arms – .25 inches each
thigh – .50 inches each
calves – .50 each
waist – 2.25 inches!
That’s a total of 4.75 inches!!!! Yay me. The scale as of yesterday says I’ve lost a total of about 8 lb…Tomorrow is day two of week five of Couch to 10K…. the running feels great… have some knee pain from monday/tuesday run but will get past that once some of this weight drops!
I completed week 1, day 3 of Couch to 10k… just now. When I arrived at the office gym, I saw a familiar face. A familiar face that, last time saw me, saw that I could run 5 miles EASY. So, I proudly thought…OK, let’s just run 3 miles and see how I feel. Afterall, I didn’t want to look like I’ve let myself go. WRONG! I got to three minutes and thought I was going to die. So I had to talk myself down and stick to the plan… Accompanied by Ellen on the tube (I guess tubes don’t exist anymore), Queen, Michael Jackson and Katy Perry (to name a few) on the iPod, I stuck to plan…
Tomorrow, if time permits, I’m going to hit the W&OD near my house; maybe walk from P’ville to Hamilton.

Hi losers! I went to bed hungry with a headache, BUT day one was a success. Logged about 1100 calories on myfitnesspal (jeniferep is my username) and completed day one of couch to 10k. I wanted to dismiss the workout because I am intimidated by my new neighborhood for two reasons; the hills and the deer (there are 20+ that roam my hood). My jogging playlist was inspirational (a lot of Exodus and sprinkle of Gin Blossoms and TobyMac) and the views beautiful. I took my “before” photo (and will hopefully never have to do that again!) and am ready to WIN.
